ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Susquehanna Retriever Club holds two AKC Licensed Retriever Hunt Tests each year.  The two tests are generally held on the same weekend each year, one in MAY and one in October.

AKC Hunt Tests involve a dog against a standard.  According to Chapter 4 Section 2 of the Regulations & Guidelines for AKC Hunt Tests for Retrievers "Judges shall score the dogs on (a) their natural abilities including marking (memory), style, perseverance, courage, hunting, and (b) to relatively greater degrees in Senior and Master Hunting Tests their Trainability as evidenced in steadiness, control, response and delivery".  Hunt tests are broken down into three categories: Junior, Senior and Master.  In a Junior test, a dog is required to pass (2) series of tests; first pick up (2) single marks on land and second, (2) single marks on water and bring the mark back to hand.  In Senior, a dog is also required to pass (2) series of tests; first pick up a double mark on land and second, pick up a double mark on water, bring back to hand, plus be able to handle on a blind retrieve.  In master, a dog is required to pick up multiple marks and blinds on both land and on water, generally three to five tests are set up.
